Good Evening Fellow Rotarians, Happy “Fools Spring”. Anyone looking forward to the time change next weekend? Please join us this Thursday for our Speaker: Richard Terrell from the Rotary Club of Chippenham, UK. ---------------------------- Please see attached for all of the information regarding the fundraiser that is happening, this Thursday, with our local Mr. Mike's restaurant. My suggestion would be to call and do a Pick-up options, then you won't miss the meeting (wink wink). Early dinner sounds good to me... I hope that we can support this local restaurant, and make equally, if not more money than we made last month with the golf course's Fish Friday fundraising night. Canada and the United Nations
Apr. 15, 2021
BRIGADIER-GENERAL K.E. OSMOND, OMM, CD Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and growing-up in the small town of Pasadena, Brigadier-General (BGen) Osmond’s career in the military truly began after spending six very rewarding years as an Army Cadet. He joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment as a Private in 1987 and spent the next six years as an Army Reservist, evolving to become an Army Logistics Officer. Throughout the next 28 years, BGen Osmond was privileged to command at every level from Platoon to Formation. His variety in posting locations has allowed him to work across all Army Divisions, the Canadian Army Headquarters, the Vice Chief of Defence Staff Group, as well as both a United Nations Mission Headquarters and a NATO Corps Headquarters. Previous to formation command, BGen Osmond held two positions, the Army G4 and the Director of Army Logistics, both positions of which he thoroughly enjoyed, yet was relieved to hand over. BGen Osmond’s career has taken him all over the world with a wide variety of operational tours and postings. In terms of expeditionary operations, he has been deployed to Bosnia twice, Syria and Afghanistan. His postings outside of the country, prior to New York, include the Middle East, Germany and two postings to Washington, DC. Each and every location has brought incredible experiences which have allowed him to grow as an Officer and to truly appreciate being a Canadian. He holds an undergraduate degree in Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Masters Degree in Defence Studies from the Canadian Forces College. In addition, he was afforded the opportunity to study at the Eisenhower School of National Defence University where he earned a Masters Degree in Science and National Resource Strategy as well as a Certificate in Supply Chain Management. Prior to his appointment in 2020 as the Canadian Armed Forces Military Advisor to PRMNY, BGen Osmond spent three years as the Commander of the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown. Commanding the “Home of the Army” allowed him to make history, both as the first Logistician to hold the post, and as the longest serving Base Commander in Gagetown. BGen Osmond is blessed to be married to his beautiful wife, Michelle, and they have four amazing children between the ages of 10 and 19. In his elusive free time he enjoys launching golf balls into the woods, lifting weights, reading and spending as much time as he can with his family. Each day he increasingly appreciates the support of the Osmond Family Unit, as well as realizes how much his kids know, and how much he has left to learn. |
