Guidelines for Community Funding
- The project/request should be consistent with the Rotary Club of High River's (RCHR) vision, mission, core values and goals which are to foster leadership, address community needs and encourage member participation.
- Funding approval will be based on the ability of any specific project or request to address and resolve specific identified issues (subject to change) as indicated below. These "issues" are also consistent with RCHR Areas of Focus.
- Preference will generally be provided to projects which are proactive in nature, innovative, leverage community resources and involve the larger community and/or volunteers and/or Rotarians.
- The RCHR is most interested in supporting organizations that are able to support RCHR Areas of Focus (as set out below). Organizations that have professional fundraising activities (including national campaigns) or staff and/or have significant government funding, would generally not be supported. Rotary would only support these organizations if there is a significant community need to be addressed which will otherwise not be accomplished without Rotary participation or where our support can be financially leveraged,
- ln general, we will only support Registered Societies and organizations in the High River area that are unable to obtain a high level of community support and/or sponsorship. Sports teams, individuals and sports tournaments are not eligible. One exception might be if an entire sports team was made up of individuals with disabilities.
- It is our goal to support initiatives and/or organizations for no more than 3 years unless the organization is able to demonstrate ongoing need for continued funding. Our intention is to foster independence and to not be relied on for annual funding.
REQUIREMENTS & DESIRABLES
- Registered Not for Profit status is required
- We strive to foster independence
- Leverage and partnerships are viewed favorably
- An understanding of Rotary’s Mission and Mandate
- Fully completed application forms email to the club at the address specified
RCHR Areas of Focus
Disadvantaged Youth (up to Age 25)
- Youth struggling with addiction issues
- Youth dealing with difficult and challenging family situations
- Youth facing education challenges
- Youth that are experiencing financial challenges especially relative to basic needs/education
- Projects that address reducing or eradicating bullying
- Projects that are proactive in the improvement of physical and/or mental health
Youth Development
- Career development
- Projects that encourage leadership role models
- Projects that promote youth volunteerism
- Projects that promote or encourage peace & conflict resolution
Disadvantaged Adult Demographics
Adult groups with challenges not adequately met by existing social networks.
Examples are projects and programs that support;
- The physically and/or mentally disabled
- Low income adults and families
- Those suffering from family abuse/neglect
- Minority groups e.g. First Nations, new Canadians,
- The homeless
Seniors
- Projects that aim to eradicate Elder abuse and or support those that have suffered from Elder Abuse
- Projects that support and encourage independence and remaining in own residence
- Projects that address shortfalls in other social support/coverage
- Initiatives to demonstrate Rotary's support and appreciation for our senior’s Community.
Community/Rotary Development
- Projects which add diversity and vibrancy to the fabric of our community
- Projects which enhance the image and work of "Rotary" and its members in the community.
